The philosophy of "Every Mind Matters, Every Mind Can Learn" is that families deserve straight- forward answers to complex problems of learning and adjustment in children. Parenting today's students is a challenge with school work, demanding schedules, and the pull of social media and video games. If your child is struggling academically with inattention, moodiness, and loss of motivation you want answers. If you feel that “something isn’t quite right”, it probably isn’t. I pride myself on "putting all the pieces together" with a comprehensive evaluation to really understand your child’s needs and make recommendations for school success.
I offer comprehensive psycho-educational assessments designed to understand problems of learning and adjustment by looking at all the pieces of the puzzle: cognitive processing, academic strengths and weaknesses, personal/social/emotional concerns, and developmental and health history. Since many parent concerns are first voiced to their pediatrician, I am happy to collaborate with medical practices for a more complete system of care.
Nancy Driscoll, MA, Licensed Psychological Associate, School Psychologist, NC Registry of Providers of Traumatic Brain Injury Assessment
With years of experience in evaluating the learning and adjustment challenges of children in a range of educational settings (public, nonpublic, charter, home) I am able to offer targeted recommendations for families, schools, and the individual student. My additional training and insight on the impact of trauma, traumatic brain injury, autism, and dyslexia provide a comprehensive understanding from which to build an action plan for success.
Previous and current experience in the public schools provides both an understanding of what is needed - and what is feasible and effective - including recommendations for 504 plans and IEP development.
